Our Homes

Industry exceeding homes

Horizon Healthcare Homes provide a homely environment for the people we support. Our homes are purpose built to an excellent standard which exceed those dictated by the industry.

Each person’s room has equipment included to meet individual specific needs, and is decorated to their unique preferences and appropriate levels of sensory stimulation.

We aim to develop strong relationships with the family and friends of those we support which is key to our ability to care for people.

All our bedrooms have en-suite wet rooms. All are equipped to an exceptional standard. Each care home has a height adjustable bath, with personalised sound system, lighting and jacuzzi.

Bedrooms have height adjustable beds and ceiling hoist tracking to facilitate movement.

Horizon Healthcare Homes provide level access facilities and rooms in all of their homes. People we support have access to communal living areas which are designed to be comfortable and homely, and are free to move between them, as they would in any home environment. Each home has level access outside space, which individuals use for recreation and where relevant to take part in garden maintenance.

Multi-sensory rooms

Each home is equipped with a multi-sensory room. These stimulating multimedia environments are specifically designed to encourage relaxation. This can positively assist people’s development and growth across a wide range of specific needs. Some enjoy individual music, aroma and massage therapy.

Garden rooms

Six of the nine homes (Beckside Lodge, Cranmer Court, Ferndale Lodge, Fixby Lodge, Langley Lodge and Sandhurst Court) have had garden rooms installed in the grounds of the home. These rooms offer an alternative space for people to engage in activities and relaxation in an outside area away from the rest of the home. All are equipped specifically according to the needs and wishes of the people living in the home. All are equipped with high quality insulation and heating to allow them to be used throughout the year as well as bi-folding doors to allow the outside in during warmer months.

Day service

During the pandemic and in response to the restrictions imposed by the guidance specifically for residential homes, Horizon Healthcare Homes made the rather bold decision to develop a day service for the use of the people supported in each of its services.

A detached building in the beautiful village of Honley, near Holmfirth was acquired by the company and renovated to create spaces for people to be able to spend time away from the home setting and engage in a range of activities such as: arts and crafts, multi media room and cinema, games room, beauty therapy, sensory room, and cooking skills. The day service now provides opportunities for people to meet others and develop relationships with people from other homes, as well as other people from outside of Horizon Healthcare Homes who are attending the day service for day support.

The service also provides an excellent base from which to explore and establish a presence in the local community, as well as the wider area which encompasses beautiful open countryside.
